GARAGE.JPG (21156 bytes)This is just for fun, and to showoff the StarGate capabilities. To control the garage door you need to add a sensor switch that tells you if the garage is open or closed. The same switch can be used for status. You can then use an Event that checks the switch and by using an IF THEN statement to determine if the door is open (switch closed) or closed (switch open). By using the phone feature of StarGate you can play the status over the phone. Example: "Garage door is open" or "Garage door is closed".

I used an alarm system magnetic contact switch that is normally open. When the garage door is open the magnetic switch is closed, StarGate tracks the condition of this switch through one of the digital contacts. You could use two switches one for open and one for closed. This would use up two digital inputs, with only 16 digital inputs one was enough. I put the switch on the open side because it was part of my non intelligent (no if/then logic) X10 system. The event is triggered by an X10 sequence,"I2 On" or *92 on the phone key pad. After press *92 StarGate speaks the status of the garage door. Sample code
